for our sponsors & cros

Radiance Clinical Research provides Sponsors and CROs access to a broad, diverse population of potential subjects across various clinical specialties, including pediatrics, vaccines, internal medicine, OB-GYN, dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, allergy, orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology, and urology. This diversity establishes Radiance as an optimal setting for participant recruitment in clinical studies.

Radiance Clinical Research has served Lampasas, Copperas Cove, and the Texas Hill Country for the past nine years. The practice resides in a service area with over 80,000 residents in the Lampasas area and 90,000 in the Georgetown and Liberty Hill areas. The nearest research entities are one hour northeast in Temple and 75 minutes southeast in Austin. Radiance serves as the research arm for Sulphur Creek Urgent Care, Georgetown OBGYN, and Chisholm Trail Pediatrics.

Radiance is fortunate to have Vanna Gold, DO, as our Principal Investigator and Medical Director. Dr. Gold has participated in 50+ clinical trials as a Principal Investigator and 10+ as a Sub-Investigator. Dr. Sherman, our Principal Investigator for women’s health studies, has participated in 12 clinical trials as a Principal Investigator and 20+ as a Sub-Investigator. Dr. Cavanagh, our Principal Investigator for pediatric studies in Georgetown and Liberty Hill, has participated in 4 studies as a Sub-Investigator and one as a Principal Investigator. Nine providers from these practices serve as Sub-Investigators. Lauren Garner BS, Radiance’s Director of Research and Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRP CCRC), has over 16 years’ experience with clinical trials as a CRC with Texas Oncology, where she oversaw 80 phase 1-4 trials and over 100 phase 2 to 4 trials to date with Radiance. All Radiance staff have completed GCP, IATA (as applicable), OSHA, and HIPAA Training and are required to renew their certifications each year.

Recruitment Capabilities and Patient Populations:

Sulphur Creek Urgent Care: Radiance is fully integrated into this busy new clinic. The patient population is currently 5,000 and growing daily, with a prominent social media presence. This offers a population of potential subjects in diverse clinical fields, including internal medicine, dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology, infectious disease, and allergy. This is also an ideal location for any trial dealing with influenza, RSV, COVID, and allergy.

Georgetown OBGYN: Dr. John Sherman is part owner of the busy OBGYN clinic in Georgetown. He also sees patients in Lampasas. His vast patient population is ideal for all women’s health studies. His partner and other providers of the practice have served as Sub-Investigators for multiple women’s health studies.

Chisholm Trail Pediatrics: Dr. Andrew Cavanagh is part owner of this pediatric practice, with three locations, including Georgetown and Liberty Hill. His practice is the perfect location for any pediatric therapeutic areas, including migraine, RSV testing and treatment, and vaccines. His employed providers have served as Sub-Investigators in many studies.

Negotiation in Process: Radiance Clinical Research was formerly FMCScience, the research arm of the Family Medicine Clinic (FMC). This huge medical practice (locations in Lampasas and Copperas Cove) offered Sponsors and CROs a vast in-built population of potential subjects in diverse clinical fields. FMC was purchased by AdventHealth, a large hospital network.

FMCScience could once access the clinical information in FMC’s database of 50,000 active patients through FMC’s electronic health record. After AdventHealth purchased FMC, the EHR was moved to Epic. Negotiations are in process for Radiance to access the database for recruitment in the Central Texas area. AdventHealth’s physicians and midlevel providers in Lampasas and Copperas Cove remain interested in research and actively recruit for Radiance’s studies.

Recruitment Tools: Radiance uses Realtime CTMS. Realtime is a powerful tool for recruiting potential subjects in that it can rapidly text and phone message the total universe of Radiance patients about new and existing studies. There is a population of about 30,000 patients in the RealTime CTMS database. The software allows us to perform patient/ subject matching queries to find patients who may fit upcoming studies. Radiance also utilizes Aspen Insight’s Forge platform, a tool with the capability to drill down into multiple patient variables to locate subjects who might be interested in particular trials. The platform allows us to perform population and feasibility analysis and quickly match patient records to complex trial criteria. This platform is integrated into the Sulphur Creek Urgent Care facility’s EHR.

Clinical Space
Radiance is located at the Lampasas Specialty Clinic building just behind Advent Health Rollins Brook Hospital. The research site is equipped with two secure investigational drug storage rooms, a laboratory area for specimen processing, and four exam rooms. Our drug rooms are locked with limited access and house a large secure refrigerator, two –80 locked freezers, and locked drug cabinets. Patients may rest in our comfortable lobby chairs during long appointments. We have a room dedicated to monitors in our offices upstairs in the building. We have our own dedicated WiFi that is shared with site visitors. Radiance utilizes an eRegulatory platform, RealTime eDOCS. Any paper regulatory documents and paper subject documents (original consent forms, laboratory requisitions, etc.) are stored in a locked cabinet inside the locked research staff office.

Equipment
Radiance equipment is monitored daily with min/max thermometers and 24/7 with TempStick temperature monitoring equipment. The study coordinator is alerted via text and email in the event of temperature excursions and impending excursions.

  • -20°C locked freezer for lab specimen storage
  • Two -80°C freezers for IP and lab specimen storage
  • -2 – -8°C locked refrigerator for drug storage
  • locked ambient drug cabinets
  • All thermometers and equipment are calibrated annually

Imaging & Other Medical Equipment
Radiance has vendor agreements in place with local imaging centers, including Advent Health Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas and Advent Health Central Texas in Killeen. Imaging may also be done at Austin Radiological Association locations in Cedar Park, Georgetown, Round Rock, and Austin, Texas. Our imaging centers can perform ultrasounds, bone density tests, x-rays, mammograms, echocardiograms, coronary CT angiography, MRI, and CT scans per study protocol specifications. These centers complete any required training and may assist with image submission to central vendors.
